First I didn't know what to post this under so forgive me

But I wanted to know how many of you have a fan controller in your 5.25 inch bay

I'm getting the Fractal Define Design R4 and it has two 5.25 bays. One will be for the NZXT HUE which is an LED controller, and I don't know what to do with the other. Should I get a fan controller and an external disc drive, or get a disc drive for that bay and use the cases built in fan controller.

Thanks!

this inside fan controller is a good thing to have what do you want to do with the system you already have one fan controller in unless you want to make big overclock and had more fan that the system could handle you could leave this bay free for now and upgrade with a external drive later ,

I have the NZXT sentry 2 fan controller. Now, motherboard fan support is better than the fan controllers unless you want total manual control at easy access. But your motherboard will almost always know whats best and then you don't have to worry about it. Now I've never been a fan of these controllers. But I just completed a full custom liquid cooling kit, CPU/GPU. a 360mm and 240mm radiator with push pull on each. Now that's 10 fans, plus the rear 140mm exhaust, and I don't know of a single mobo with fan support for 11. I could get splitters yes, but that's why I went fan controller. Adds 5 fans, but more adds 20 watts per fan channel, I think my mobo is 5-10w, so now if I do need to run a splitter I know without a doubt it should work. Plus if something happens I don't want to ruin a mobo fan header, id much rather ruin one on a $29 fan controller. Thermostat sucks on the thing though, except for the separate in line thermostat I bought and plugged into the 2 pin header on unit for

So I'm getting the Maximus VI Formula mobo for my build and i have about 6 fans (including the 2 on my H100i) should I just plug them all into my mobo and I'll be good? I was planning on doing the 2 on the H100i into the CPU fan header and the others into some controller
