Title says it all. Which is better, the linksys 1750 router or the netgear 1450? The router will be one floor down and 10 to 20 ft away from the computer. The only other devices will be phones. The computer is used for gaming and streaming. Or are both routers over kill?

Thanks.

If all you do is stream or play games on the Internet then both are overkill anything over 100m is likely overkill since few people can get a internet connection even close to that. On top of that a large stream would be maybe 5m. Most games are well under 1m. Only people transferring data between machines WITHIN the house can really make good use of these higher speeds.

The difference is in the maximum 802.11ac speed supported. First to take advantage of it your computer must also support matching 802.11ac rates. The problem is you already have a issue going vertical with wireless signal and 802.11ac only runs on 5g. 5g has much poorer coverage in most houses. So if you end up running on 2.4g to get good signal levels you can not use 802.11ac anyway.
