Hey all,

so this is a silly little problem that I actually managed to solve once before... but forgot how. I have a slightly older rig and when I use the XBox controller it tends to lag just enough to be frustrating. Now in the past I managed to solve this problem by raising the priority of the associated process via the task manager. Now I'd do the same only I can't find it. I forgot what it was called. It's not showing up. It may even be bundled inside a generic svchost.exe. I don't know. All I'm really sure of is that I've been staring at my screen cross eyed for the better part of the last hour trying to remember how to get the computer to pay attention to the controller first while I play the game.

LOL... right. So any advice is much appreciated. Cheers and carry on.

Thanks for the attention but you misunderstand. The controller works fine. It just lags. In the past I was able to remedy the problem by opening the task manager, finding the process associated with it, and raising the priority of that process, thereby making windows pay more attention to it.

The problem now, though, is that I can't find that process. I've changed several things on my rig and suspect it may be bundled into a generic process like svchost (this is the suspect. I'm not 100%.) Now re-installing the software might be a solution, especially if I could somehow force that process to be more apparent... but I don't know.

Honestly I remember it being fairly straightforward and easy to do. I thought it had an obvious name within the processes menu and I remember doing it over and over... which is why I'm confused.

Anyway, thanks again. I may try reinstalling the software but since the controller actually works (just not very well) I don't think that's the problem.

Cheers.

EDIT: attempted to reinstall and was informed by windows that the software is already installed and working just fine. To reinstall I'll have to remove the software first, which seems unnecessary. Honestly I just want to determine how to raise the priority of the input so windows pays more attention to it while I'm using the controller cos I know that's all it is. I just can't remember how. /facepalm
