Downgrade problems windows 8.1 to 7

i want to downgrade my laptop ASAP. I have done the uefi to legacy and disabled secure boot. I have formatted the drive to ntfs using gparted..Still when installing windows 7 i get a error as "System cannot create a new partition or locate an existing partition".. Why is it like that?..But i can install ubuntu flawlessly and work.. so my hdd is not corrupted.. please help.. I like windows 8.1 but the problem is it shows crc error wen installing drivers..Also the drivers are present in device manager.. I know it has audio and bluetooth.. But it also has amd graphic driver...how?? plz provide answers soon..... thnx

I can't explain why you were able to install linux but the CRC errors and win7 setup error both point to problems with the hard drive. It could be that the linux distro is smaller and not hitting the affected parts on the hard disk.

I would get hold of another hard disk to test it with. You might be right about the disk but I'd be very suspicious of it.

I have had this problem before. Look in your windows disk and find the HDD driver. You need to install that first and then you can install windows. Ubuntu/Linux installs the driver software automatically which is why they will install, but if you format your drive with windows it wipes out the driver.
