I'm testing a new build and noticed Bios is returning 0 rpm for the chasis fan. The mobo is a new asus a88xm-a and the new attached case fan is a 3 pin being connected to a 4 pin mobo header. Am I missing something here? Shouldn't I be getting an rpm reading from the fan? The fan itself is definitely working.

My cpu fan reading is good. I was under the impression a 4 pin mobo fan header would still give you an rpm reading if using a 3 pin connection... am I wrong? Or do I have a possibly bad fan header?

I appreciate any ideas or feedback. Just wanting to hear from the community on this one.

As mentioned previously, the fan itself is definitely working.
This board has only 1 header for the chasis fan.

The board is updated. I would have to order another fan to do this. I'll be contacting ASUS directly instead.

I'm currently getting conflicting information from the ASUS reps. I'd like to add that when the 4pin CPU fan is connected to this motherboard header (CHA_FAN) the RPM reads fine. Either this board only reads RPM's with fans using a 4pin connector or my board has an issue with 3pin fans.
