A question for the experts.

I have just purchased a refurbished Lenovo X201 for use in the clinic, along with a 9cell Li-Ion battery. It is equipped with a 1st gen i5 processor and 2gb of DDR3 Ram, as well as my beloved Windows 7 professional.

It is my understanding that the machine is capable of utilizing up to 8gb of ram.
Ebay lists it as being equipped with Windows 7 pro.

I am not planning on "gaming" on this as it will be a work computer (At best I would consider trying SWTOR). I'll be building a desktop later for serious gaming.

Could y'all please provide me a link with compatible ram that my machine can handle?

I just need this device to perform as fast as it is capable of so there is no lag switching between applications and charts etc.

I appreciate the assistance.

(Also, as I am buying it used from someone I don't know, is there a way or program to "sweep" it, ensuring no malware or scam software has been installed? Thank you)

Hello,

IMO, 4GB will be enough to run basic applications. Yes, your laptop supports upto 8GB. Check the follow site which has listed the memory for your IBM thinkpad - Memorystock.com or try crucial

Those links are just for suggestion and for your reference and in no way i'm promoting either of them. Also if you are buying it locally from a hardware store ask for - PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 204pin SDRAM SODIMM memory.

As for the SWTOR 2GB is enough to make it work in moderate settings but 4GB is what I recommend especially if you have in-built graphics. Try installing a anti-virus software and do a deep system scan. That will remove everything malware n detect harmful softwares but I would highely recommend formatting the entire system and then try using it.

Hope i've answered your query!! :sourire:
