Just picked up bf4 and loving it! I'm getting 40-60 fps average on my rig @ high 1386x968 res but when it gets busy it can drop to the 30's.

My rig is fx 6300 (stock), 8gb kingston hyperx, xfx Radeon 7770 and I'm wondering if a little tune up would help me pull some higher fps or even help me run the game in ultra?

At the moment I'm on the stock cooler but you can pick up a decent cooler for £20-30 so no bother.

I know that both the CPU and gpu can be o/c but I'm just wondering what's best to do? I

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

O/C CPU + Cooler Master 412s (Not Slim)

If GPU temps good at full load, give it a little O/C.

What sort of clock and multipliers should I be aiming for with that cooler?

I'm hitting about 50-55c gpu temps stock so might have a go with a little o/c then, take it the aim is to keep gpu temps sub 70c ?

Cheers

Just ran amd overdrive and left on default now bf4 is blue screening? Just driver swept amd drivers and now reinstalling, it's true what they say about o/c software then? It's a piece of crap!! Lol

Hopefully the reinstall works as I didn't back up before installing bf4 and would have to download all the updates again...chore.

Would a 412 help me reach 4.0 ghz on the 6300?

Picked up a hyper 212 evo today, o/c to 4ghz via multiplier and left everything else on auto. Dunno I I dare go higher as don't wanna play with the voltages?

Ok just tried 4.1 and the temps sky rocketed to 65c I noticed the voltage auto jumped to about 1.35 tho?

That's testing with heavy load

I would leave your CPU alone, if you do OC dont go more than a few hundred mhz in over drive. The 7770 is most likely what is holding you back...

I've dialled the cpu back down to 4 ghz, with turbo boost on set at 4.1ghz...Temps on furmark cpu burn reach about 55c max so that will do.
I think your right with the GPU now - when I play BF4 the GPU shows 99% load pretty much all the time.

I think a new GPU in my setup is the only thing that will see BF4 in ultra pushing 60 fps?

yes no doubt, AMD's new R9 series are great cards, I have the r9 270x in crossfire but with just one card I maxed out BF4 with ease
