I've built a room at the back of my garden, how would I go about getting Internet there?

Hi there guys, I've built a room in the back of my garden, got electricity there. No Internet tho. The room is about 30f long. In my normal house I've got Internet but my router signal don't reach to the back of my garden. How would I go.about putting Internet there. I've heard about them network plug things, not sure what there called. Would.they work? Or any other suggestions?

I do have Internet in my house but the router don't reach that far. I need Ethernet connection in that room in the back too. Going to play xbox N have a.pc there.

I lived for a while in a caravan in my mums garden while saving up for a deposit on a flat, I just ran an rj45 cable from her router down the garden, suspended on poles. Went into a router in the caravan that gave me wired and wifi. Not the most elegant solution but cheap, easy and quick...

What you are looking for are called powerline network adapters. How well they work is going to be dependent on the path the power circuits take between the 2 outlets. You would prefer the simplest path. You want to plug the units directly into the wall outlets. No extension cords or surge protectors since they tend to degrade the signals.

Powerline adapters are the first line of attack for this because they are easy and can be returned to the store if they don't work.

If the powerline adapters don't do the trick, more technical solutions are available. Direct burial Ehternet cable might be the cheapest, if you have a route. Another "far out" solution would be, Engenius and others make bridges that use directional WiFi like radios to connect a network over the air, just like the powerline adapters do over the electrical wire. You would need one on the house and one on the shed with a line if sight between them.

I know you mentioned having an ethernet connection, but I would recommend a strong wifi signal as an alternate. If you upgrade your router to an AC type the range may reach, if not you could purchase a range extender for the new room.
