AMD temperature offset?

I have a question. I heard that the FX-series processors needed a temperature offset to be added. For my FX-6100, I figured out that it is 12C since it throttles(lowers its clock) above 58C where it should have been 70C(known max temp for FX-6100). So, are you people using it while reading temps? And is the offset of 12C the same for all FX-processors like FX-8350, 8320, etc ?

I guess I figured out that offset by enabling some features like APM. So, you mean that they don't need any offset. And I can directly use temperatures from softwares like HWmonitor, Coretemp without any offset? So, which temperature are you going to suggest me to be my max(without offset). My current max temp without "my offset" is 56C which is the actual temp as you have said. So, do I have more overclocking headroom then since max temp is 70C?

I just used the new AMD Overdrive Utilility (version - 4.3.1.0690) which uses thermal margin.

Thermal Margin indicates how far the current operating temperature is below the maximum operating temperature of the processor.

And I figured out that the thermal margin( which reports difference in FX core temp) = 70C - Core temperature(in Hwmonitor).

So, it seems like the FX-6100 has a max core temp of 70C :)
