Hello Tom's Hardware community, I need help from you! Recently I got a problem that at random time, most of the applications won't work. Actually when I open some sort of video, like youtube it won't start but loads, then when I try to play song at from pc any media player won't work, and at that time a lot of applications won't work, games, other program, except a internet sites without video player. I don't know if that is related to that video or it's just problem with my computer. It fixes only way when i restart my computer. Please, help me best as you can, and you have my thanks ahead.

When you say nothing happens, do you mean that the computer stops responding for a period of time? All of it? Even the mouse? or does the mouse still work?

If the mouse works but things freeze up I can say that I had the same problem early this year. I had a bad Seagate disk drive and until it was physically removed it caused 'pauses' of up to 30 seconds where nothing would start, but strangely when converting video files they would continue to run unaffected.

Charge your SMART information on your disk drive. Try Harddrive Sentinel, free version to view your information.

Okay. I'll get my mind around this. I read your post and my mind was thinking of something else.
I really don't have an answer. It could be driver problems. look at your program installation history ( in windows 7, go to 'uninstall programs' and click on the 'date installed' column to sort by date. What programs have you installed lately that may be video or sound related? You may wish to try an uninstall them.

Still thinking...

Or possibly 'tweaked' the system for protection or performance?

Or did some 'clean up' of old apps?
