1.20V should be just fine, if you feel its unstable somehow (any bluescreen or any lockups) try 1.25V that would work 99%

my experience with my own 4670K is like this:
@4.00 - Vcore: 1.150V (I didnt feel the urge to check the temps, since its lower voltage anyways)
@4.20 - VCore: 1.248V - Idle Temp: 35-38C Load/Game Temp: 60-65C
@4.30 - VCore: 1.268V - Idle: 35-40C Load/Game: 60-70C
@4.40 - VCore: 1.300V - It was unstable didnt really have the chance to game or smth...
Im using CM Hyper 212-X (Newer version of Hyper Evo-R2)

hope it helps...

Mine currently on auto runs Intel burn test using 1.187v and hits 74c on the hottest core.

Every chip differs so you'll have to test it out for your self though, if your really lucky you might not have to increase the voltage much, maybe even on stock 1.15.

Hi,

I was overclocking my 4670K and I just wanted to know how you reached those temps of 60-65C @4.20GHz. Were you using a stress test like Prime95 or IntelBurnTest? I just set my clock speed to 4.0GHz and my voltage at 1.16V and I get temperatures of around 80C with Prime95. I have just installed a Hyper 212 EVO using Gelid GC-Extreme thermal paste. Those temps are much higher than yours even though my clock speed and voltage are much lower.

I think u have problem Im now on 4ghz and 1.14vcore and on prime I dont reach 60c .
So try to reinstall ur cooler

I have hero vii and thermalright macho , maybe I can go lower than that but I dont have time ;)

Which version of Prime95 do you use? Apparently the versions later than 1.66 utilize AVX which causes the Haswell generation processors to skyrocket. Using the older version, my CPU maxes at 70 degrees at a 4.3 GHz @ 1.295 overclock.

Akhilcool,

We've already covered this in your thread: 4670K - Getting ~90C @ 4.2GHz Overclock - http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2250323/4670k-90...

Also, let's not confuse anyone. The P95 versions to which you're referring are 26.6 versus 28.5.

Let's not hijack El Yas's thread. If you'd like to debate this further, then we can continue on your existing thread, or you can start another thread and PM me. I'll be glad to help you further.

Hello guys, i do a quick presentation of myself, im Steven im from italy im 29 years old and i recently upgraded my computer.
Im searching for the right settings about a medium/high overclock of the cpu but i also want it more stable as possible, even if the "hardest" game i run on this computer is Starcraft 2 heart of the swarm and it hasn't very high requirements and it didn't employ cpu very much, i rarely run heavier games, i mostly run it or i use internet so i didn't stress my computer very much usually.
I have just at point an intel i5 haswell 4670k, i have closely no knowledge in overclocking and i did tryouts by myself.....i don't know much about voltage and im not pretty sure even about other settings i saw into the bios but all i think is overclocking is like an hobby, it requires time, knowledge, and it is not easy to find the best overclocking for your computer if you are not very practic with informatic and especially electronics.
sorry for all those words but i wanted to be clear XD
my specs:
-i5 4670k
-msi z87-g45 gaming(ms 7821)
-kingston KTC 4gb x2 1333 mhz (also if i think they could be boosted till 1600-1800-1866 mhz but im not sure)
-zotac gt 440 2 gb (yes i know, bottleneck of the computer, i wish any one could suggest me the best gtx also used i can upgrade to for 120-140 euro budget)
-1000 w alimentator, but i don't know how to identify it, my uncle assembled my computer for me
-x1 frontal, x2 laterals, x1 backward 12-13 centimeters dissipators case and i don't know how to identify it, it has the 11 number and a X

i think its very important to say, for a mistake i upgraded my bios from 1.0 version to 1.9 version, is it a huge problem for overclocking? will the system be stable anyways?
and, about dissipators on the bios, should i put fan speed up when i overclock the computer? i always did it but i always see fan are not running at an high speed.....i feel confused :o
all overclockings i tried were with the turbo boost speed, but with enhanced core boost enabled so the cores are always at the max ratio.
this processor, as you know, at base speed has a 3.4 of base ratio, 3.4 of ring voltage, and 3.8 at turboboost, as base.
i tried from 4.0 (turboboost)4.1-4.2-4.3-4.4
i had the system semi-stable till 4.3 but with high temperatures and i didn't ever know how to set the voltage.
my questions are infinite actually, but ill do only the most important ones:
-Is only-via-turboboost overlock a stable overclock? should i use enhanced core boost? should i use legacy tweaking?
-what ratio could i hit? 4.0?4.4? specificating i want a stable overclocking i think by myself for the few thing i know that 4.2 for my core would be the best, but with which voltage? if needed i could search more info about my case and my alimentator.
-what mode should i use for core voltage mode? auto?adaptive?override? what is the best, and in which cases? should i add some 0.040 in core voltage offset mode? is it useful?damaging?useless? do you suggest it?
-should i change mode also for ring voltage mode? should i change any other voltage when i overlock? what parameters are mostly important in overclocking an i5 4670k?
actually i prefere to stay down to 4.0 - 4.1 with auto voltage and have a non-stress temperature of 33-36 degrees, and 73-75 degrees when stressed very very very much with games or loading, but usually it never goes over 65-68.

im sorry for all this talking, but im really new at this, and i really really like this, it is amazing, funny, entertaining, and satisfacting imho when you get some real results of performance.
thank you all for giving overclocking rookies a chance to learn something in this forum, its amazing.
i wish any one could help me with my doubts, i really really much need help, by ANY one, any one could know more respect me about overclocking on this forum i guess ahah:D
ok i rolled ur balls enough now, time to go bios and to see some more thread about my cpu. thank you all guys
