it protects the circuits from going crazy hot, and lowers the core multiplier (or core voltage) so it gets cooler again.

that means overclocking protection. of course if you try some crazy numbers you may burn the chip in any case, since it cannot protect your from a none-sense voltage...

It helps to automate overclocking, supposedly it will optimise your system speed and help you get a bit more performance out of your system.

Should you want to take full control, you've got all of the settings you need to make all of your own adjustments
