Hi. Just upgraded my sisters pc. I haven't got the full spec, ill post that info later. All I can remember at this moment is its an i3 3ghz, 6bg ram, internal graphics and a very low powered gpu.

I decided to put in a cheap 9600gt so she could play some games. The psu had so little connections that I had to buy a sata to 6pin power adapter to power the card.

All worked fine for a bit and I got good temps from speedfan. That was until I got this error.

Does anyone out there know whats to blame? Does the psu not have enough power?

Ill update later with full specs.

Thanks
Tony

Well done you have just answered your own question.
Of course its the power supply.

You have drawn more amps and voltage output from the 12v rail of the Psu.
So it`s practically saying the PSU does not have enough power to keep the whole system stable due to the extra demand.

Any freeze or lockup or restart, or incorrect system shutdown will cause a Kernel power 41 error on next restart or while in windows, blue screen.

And can be the result of adding new hardware but the PSU not being able to cope with the extra power demanded after fitting extra hardware to the system.

You may need a higher wattage PSU.

Hi. I took the card out and will now see if I get further crashes. It has a i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz. According to Everest the mb is unknown (never had this before). This pc is a cheapish HP from PC world and it doesn't look that great in terms of upgrading it. The mb has these numbers on it:

PCLDVoHD62T84V Rev 0H
AOS-C670960-001

The psu had an output of 300W. even though its puny there's nothing in this pc. A single hdd, some extra cf ports on the front etc. It does come with internal Intel @HD graphics.

I thought it could of had enough power for the GPU?

Cheers
Tony
