Black screen blinking cursor all i gotta say am frustated..

Hello everyone I am going crazy trying to figure this black screen with the blinking cursor out day and night still have no found out a solution.. I spent 600$ on all my pieces to my tower and I cant do nothing with it : (.. I got it all put together threw and Unbuntu LiveCD in it to download some sort of OS.. well it froze when it was almost done now all I got is a black screen with blinking cursor cant do nothing.. is it Bad OS or Hard drive problems since I think unbuntu wiped it off and everything could someone out there please help me get this taken care of ive had enough bout to throw it out in road lol thanks in advance.

Let me guess,
The system froze so it forced you to shutdown or restart the system yourself.
And when you turn it on it posts, but then your met with a black screen with a white blinking cursor.

It`s looking for a live or boot able partition.
So if the CD drive was set as the first boot device in the bios and the HD or SSD second.

Move the HD to number one, save the settings and see if it finds Ubuntu to boot off the Hd. Its most likely looking for a boot record of on the HD with Ubuntu installed to it.

The only way I can do anything is if I move the CD Drive to boot first and Hard drive to boot 2nd if I move the hard drive to first am met with the black screen blinking cursor everytime and it will not move from that screen ive let it set for hours don't do anything.. so am guessing its gotta be the hard drive it wiped the partion off it or did something to it because when I got my computer together everything was running great till that linx LiveCD froze up and I had to shut done and everytime since then I get the black screen blinking cursor :(. and cant do anything ive tried it all the only thing I can think is get a new hard drive less anyones got a solution ; /
