Hi there,

I own a G41-es2l motherboard, with a rosewill 530w PSU. I recently just bought the XFX Radeon HD6950 and tried installing the card. Once I installed everything and powered on the computer, I can hear everything boot up just fine, except the gfx card I can hear the fan initially turn on and then off and then moments later it turns on again. There is also no display that is being showed on my monitor. My graphics card previously was a ATI 4770 which worked fine after I reinstalled it. Is this a power supply issue or maybe a driver issue? Any and all help is appreciated

Solution
Yes you are right if the card is recognized by BIOS then it should display with drivers and you should get a message of 6 pin connectors are not plugged in, if you forgot to plug them in.

And yes release notes for BIOS should tell something like that. But before you update the BIOS try the card on another PC, just to make sure the card is ok.
Good luck.
^+1, and try the card on a different system to make sure its ok. It could be the PSU not providing enough power to run the card, so you can try a different PSU also.

P.S. you may need to update the MB BIOS, if you want to update BIOS then first read the release notes on vendors site, you will know what has changed actually in the latest BIOS, and do it on your own risk, cause improper flashing could brick the MB.

Yes I did hook up the 2x6 power plugs. Just to rule out the driver issue, if I were to have enough power, the card should automatically be detected via default drivers and something should show on my screen right? I shall also check to see if I need to update my mobo bios. On the release notes you are talking about, am I just looking to see if the update includes the mobo bios being able to read pci-e 2.1x and above?
