Will Partitioning my HDD make things run faster?

I am recording minecraft for my youtube channel but it records at a bad fps and the is an option to choose which hdd or ssd to run the recording software off (i assume i would also put all my games on the partioned hdd). Would partioning the drive and putting the software and games on the empty partion?

I'm going to answer your Subject line.

No. Partitioning will not increase speed.

However adding a SSD drive will. Check out Plextor. You can get a fast boot drive for about $110.
