Good evening Tom's community ^^.

My so called "gaming" pc is almost perfect. All that's missing is that SSD which i've never used in my entire life. But now's the time.

Specs:
CPU: FX-8350 @ 5Ghz
MB: GA-990FXA-UD3
GPU: R9 290 Windforce @ 1200/1500
RAM: 8GB Corsair vengeance 9-9-9-24
CPU cooler: H80i
CASE: Fractal design define R4
HDD: 2TB western digital 5400rpm
SSD: ???

So i need some recommendations for a SSD, but i won't exactly be gettingo one just yet, not until april. (That's my birthday month) But i need someone to point out some good options.

I want 256gb primarly so that it's future proof for a couple of years, I will be using Ubuntu as my primary operating system and Windows as secondary for games and such.

Anyone interested in helping me out? Thanks in advance as always!

Samsung Evo 250GB Is pretty much the best unless you want to spend tonnes on Enterprise level equipment.

Thanks for the answer :p , but what do you mean by "Enterprise equipment"?

Very expensive and high performance SSD's mostly costing over £1000

Since this is a "High End" system you may want to splurge on the Samsung 256 GB 840 Pro, a little better performance, slightly higher capacity than the Evo and a 5 year warranty instead of 3.

You must be mislead, the Evo has quite a bit better performance than the pro and the warranty depends on where you're from.

The reviews that I've seen, including here on Tom's, show the Pro to be faster, especially since Rapid Mode has now been added to the Pro.

Though i didn't mention anything about pricing in the beginning, the difference here in Sweden is not to be big, but still. I'm 15 years old and therefore limited on money. And i doubt I'd see a noticable difference?

As for now, loading times are my only consern, nothing else. And thanks for the help!
