i have just bought a new pc and the performance im getting from my gpu that came with i believe is sloppy its a palit gtx 760 2gb there are several games i play on high settings and i feel as tho the performance i get is not what i expected i was just wondering if theyre was anything i can do to improve performance or should i just upgrade my gpu

Solution
Both of those are good cards, but right now the 280x prices are inflated due to bitcoin miners. The 770 right now is approximately 100 dollars cheaper for slightly lower performance in some areas. I would go with the 770 if you need to upgrade right now. If you want to hold on to your 760, you could wait and see what comes out of Nvidia's Maxwell cards which are due out this year. I do think you will get by fine with your 760 if you lower expectations a bit and run the games on high settings instead of the ultra presets. You could use Nvidia's geforce experience to set baseline settings for you and tweak upward from there and adjust till you are happy with how the games look and perform. In most cases high vs ultra or in some games even...

What games have you been testing with? Can you also provide your entire system spec, like power supply, processor, ram, OS, etc. This will help us determine what might be the root cause of your issue. What you can do is download the application called FRAPS that allows you to see what frame-rate your games are running at. We can then use this information coupled with your system specs to tell you if something is wrong.

this is what i have CPU: NEW! Intel Core i5 4670K

CPU Overclocking: 4.2Ghz
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS5X Performa
Operating System: Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87-HD3
RAM: 8GB Corsair 1600mhz Vengeance (2x4GB)
Hard Drive: 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s
Optical Drive: 22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card: NVIDIA palit GeForce GTX 760 2GB
Onboard 7.1 Audio
Internet: Wireless 802.11N 300Mbps MIMO PCI-E card
Case: Zalman Z9 Plus
PSU: 650W Corsair VS
the games i have been playing are arma 2 and 3 to which i get 50fps or below never constant dips as low as 25fps sometimes even if i have on lowest settings not much dif. i play bf4 on medium same fps as above and borderlands 2 i only seem to have fps problems with physx on. also cod ghost which is terrible performance but i have read its not optimised but i dont really know how all of that works .i mean iv come from playing console and spending nearly £900 on a pc to play games to the max but seem to have these problems do u think im expecting to much from this machine

Honestly the 760 isn't the most powerful gpu in the world, and is pretty much about as fast as the new consoles that just came out. You seem to just be getting the right fps for that setup.

especially given your arma 3 and bf4 performance, I think you are expecting a bit much from your machine. It should still look better than the consoles, but really not by much
