Fans not louder than a jet that provide good airflow?

Hello,

I currently have a fan in the front of my case that is extremely loud and it's getting quite annoying. I would get a fan controller but I'm not sure if that is the best way to go for just one fan. The fan came with my case and I am not sure exactly what it is. I do know it's a Cooler Master 120 mm I just don't know which it is since there are so many. I would like to say it runs at 1500 RPM, probably higher and has really great Airflow, I don't know how much though, possibly 30 or 40 CFM.

Anyway, I am looking for a fan that does just about the same as the one I have now just a lot quieter so I don't have this really loud buzzing noise in my ear all the time, I can go up to 140 mm for the size.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a replacement? I wouldn't mind if it had a switch to make it speed up or slow down as it might make it make less noise.

Thanks for any help! :)

Solution
Grab you a Noctua. They're very quiet with great airflow. More on the expensive side, but if you're only replacing one fan, I would recommend them. ABout as quiet as you can get :)

Wow those are expensive! I have heard good things about them but I just forgot about them. What about the Be Quiet! Brand? I have heard good things about them as well but I don't know if they are better or worse than Noctua.

Thanks for the help!

Ok, great, after looking around it seems the Noctuas are easier to get in the states so I guess I'll go with those.

Yeah, I single fan at that price I can afford but if I switched out all of my fans in my case it would cost me upwards of 150$. It surprised me how much they cost given that previously I was looking at $7 fans lol. I suppose you have to shell out more for better quality.

Thanks again for the help! :)

Good to know, I have a 120mm fan that makes absolutely no noise, was $8 but the airflow was so astronomically low that my parts started to heat up so I switched back to the Cooler Master which while loud had great airflow and did it's job well.

I have been looking around some more and it looks like Be quiet! and Noctua is basically on par with one another with Noctua being more accessible to the buyer (easier to find that is).
