I just bought a Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHZ OC 2 GB 256 -bit card for $160 to improve lag (Very Little, Only on ultra) and performance in games like skyrim and far cry 3. I upgraded from an hd 7770 and am wondering how big of a difference i will see and if it will bottleneck badly. I am not worried too much about a small bottleneck if my performance is still very improved. In a few months i will probably upgrade my FX processor which i know is not a great series for gaming but i want to keep with my build as long as i can. which FX cpu should i go to?

Current Build

-AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz
-SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB 128-bit

-G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB -MSI 970A-G46 AM3+
-2 Western Digital WD
Blue 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache
-CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W ATX12V -Cooler

20 minutes isn't a very long time for Prime 95, but there really isn't a 'normal' for overclocking. I've seen CPUs that refuse to overclock past 100-200MHz even with voltage tweaking, and I've seen some able to go from 3.5 to 4.2 without touching voltage lol

Gaming wise, with a 7870 GHz, there may be a couple FPS difference, but nothing really noticeable at all. CPU performance wise, though, going to the Vishera platform would be a great improvement.
Bottleneck? No. Will you get worse performance than an i7-4960x? Yes lol The 4100 only starts noticeably bottlenecking when you get into higher range CPUs.

And about a CPU upgrade, it depends on your budget. The 4300 or 4350 is good, but the 6300 or 6350 can be had for like $10 more. For about $150 or so you could get the 8320, or a hair more for the 8350. You shouldn't have to get a new motherboard either, which is nice, but you would have to check your BIOS version to see if Vishera is supported or not.

Did you mean noticably bottlenecking when you get into higher range GPUs?

Hah no problem. So you dont think it will be noticable it games? ive heard a million mixed reviews about the combination. Also my 4100 is OC to 4.2 Ghz. Which i did without changing the voltage and it runs fine on prime 95 for the 20 mins it was on there and normal use so far, is that normal?
