Do You Think My Mobo or CPU is dead?

My mom told me this morning that her HP Pavilion g7-1167dx wasn't 'working well'.
When I checked it out, the screen was completely black, getting no signal, but the computer itself was on. The CPU fan is running, the power light is white and WIFI (F12) is orange.

I got no error codes from the CAPS and NumLock lights that are supposed to give an error code if hardware is malfunctioning.
I tried to connect to an external display via VGA and HDMI--I got nothing. I did a 'hard reset' by taking the battery out and holding the power button for 30 seconds, then powering on with only the AC (no battery). Still nothing.

Lastly, I dismantled the whole darn thing to unplug the CMOS battery in the motherboard for about a minute, hoping to reset the BIOS if that was corrupt. I also swapped the HD into my laptop and it worked fine. I tried putting some of my laptop RAM (2Rx8 PC3 8500) into her laptop which had 2Rx8 PC3 10600. The RAM should have worked, right?

All of this leads me to believe the mobo is dead, especially since the external display didn't work. The graphics card is part of the mobo, so if that's it, it might as well be the mobo that's shot.

I was simply wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to get the laptop to give me an error code, or if they had any other ideas on why it's not working, like if it were the CPU. I would think that there would still be display if the CPU is fried, but I'm not sure. I want to be positive the mobo is the problem before forking out $120 for a new one.

Thanks! Sorry for writing so much, just wanted to cover all the bases I've already gone over.

Alright considering everything you've tried and the fact that your not getting the blinking error lights but you are getting other things to work (fans and whatnot) i would agree on it coming down to the CPU or Motherboard. Now that being said i would personally have to go with motherboard... CPU's hardly ever die unless its from poorly performed overclocking. HP motherboards however... Are very well known for dying and not giving any warning signs before or after they die. I would very easily assume with very little doubt that your Motherboard is toast and needs to be replaced.
