hi guys i just bought an fx 6300 with r9 270 8gb of ram and an msi 880gms-e41 mobo.
i know it is a crappy board. does a crappy board bottleneck a system? like not getting the max potental of the fx or the r9 270

More about : motherboard bottleneck system

It will bottleneck the performance of the RAM, since it only support 1333.

Overall for your system though, the CPU is probably the biggest bottleneck. Motherboards are just features more than anything. They do not impact performance unless you want RAM speed that isn't supported, or SATA6 vs SATA3.

A new motherboard won't increase your frame rate, it will just allow you to install 1866 Mhz RAM. Which will still not impact the FPS of games.

On the otherhand. Ram donest make much difference anyway, especially since amd has crappy ram controllers

The FX6300 support up toe 1866, and it will make some difference navigating Windows. Just won't increase your FPS at all.

Your motherboard does effect your performance: while the only things a motherboard can improve on, or suffer is:

Pci 3.0/pci 2.0 gdr data transefer over the gpu
ddr4/ddr3/ddr2
How information travels based on the cpu's architecture.

A poor cpu, with a overpowerful gpu can bottlekneck a pc.
A poor cpu, can hinder performance if gpu's powerfull
inadequate ram, poor power supply can effect a poor system.

P,s who builds a pc with poor motherboard specs it's usually the otherway around.

fx 8350 with 8 cores 200$ would increase frame rates, especially with the right board, and gpu.

Your board seems okay, (but if i was you, i would've upgrded within a heartbeat, that's me.)

You havent told us the reason to your question, are you suffering performance issues, or are you just curious if your board sucks.

cause i previously built an a8 5600k and it powers up and boots fast.

but now when i switch my pc on, ofcourse the fans and leds turn on immadiately. but it takes maybe about 40-50 seconds for my monitor to have a signal. then when the logo of msi appears. it takes maybe another 30-45 seconds to get past there. and boots windows very fast maybe less than 2-3 seconds. plus sometimes when i try to go to the bios and press delete my cpu is making a weird clicking sound every time i press del. and wont enter bios. it will boot up straight. but sometimes. i can go to the bios.

That's not a bottleneck, but could be a corrupt BIOS. You can try updating it from the website.

even the very slow powering and everything?

Yes, absolutely. If your BIOS is suddenly having difficulty loading, that could be a hardware problem with the motherboard.

If it's always been that way, I wouldn't worry about it.

yeah the first time i powered it up it was already like that. it just annoys me cause opening my pc takes maybe 2 minutes because of that.

I wouldn't worry about, it's probably running a quick test on the components to check for failures. You can probably disable it in the BIOS and shorten the boot time, but I wouldn't recommend it. Boot times do not impact performance in games.

Enjoy, your motherboards the culprit, given your os boots fine. its clear, how long have you had this issue for, i would try to update your bios, and boards configuration then run a test in bios, usually some graphics cards boot up with no bios plash screen, mine does it depending what card i install.
