Need some specs bud..

Sound like the GPU is failing (off the top of my head). How long have you had it, is it over OC, how have your temps been?

You made need to take it part and reapply thermal paste (These recommendations are a shot in the dark without specs)

The card is a gt 520, came stock with the HP p6 2055a. CPU is an i7 2600 on a carmel2 mobo. Had the computer for around 3 years. Not overclocked and I'm unsure of temps, haven't tested them. Really just wondering if there's a quick fix so I can continue using my PC today. In the long term (next week or so) I'm looking to upgrade my GPU, PSU and add an ssd.

I connected an old (and probably damaged) radeon 2400 pro and it's displayed okay, though it is unstable, so I guess it is my gpu that's gone eh?

Me too (like I said in my first post) those are the telltale signs of a fried GPU.

I also hinted to a possible save: a buddy of mine had the same issue, reapplied some diamond thermal grease and was all set but if your upgrading soon it might be more of hassle than it worth

Yeah, I'm just going to assume it's gone and start looking for a new card.
Any recommendations on a new gpu? Looking to spend around $100 AUD. I have read that HP motherboards only suit the GPU that they came with and in that case, I might need to upgrade my mobo :(

Really? Data mining is putting a strain on the gpu supply?
That's just funny.

Are they compatible with an IPISB-CU (Carmel2) motherboard?

Yeah they appear to be compatible but I've heard that HP motherboards don't work with other GPUs, only the stock card that it came with (HP GT 520)
