I have been debating whether or not to get a laptop, or just go with the desktop for gaming. I want the portability to play at friends houses, but want power at a relatively low price. Maybe a mini desktop? Any thoughts?

Try this. Very small size, and at a good price. You could add a SSD, but that will make te price go up to about $1130 ish.
