Give more details
First of all , they have to be of same socket (Ivy Bridge/Ivy Bridge , Haswell/Haswell) and it s good their watts to be the same or close - for instance 17W vs 17W , 37W vs 47W . You should check/ask if the motherboard supports the new processor and make sure the old is not soldered.

if you only have accidental warranty it wont cover an up grade no mater what happens to it as that is only for fix or replace for the same and if you replace it your self you will then void that warranty so if you want an up grade take it back to where you got it from and get them to upgrade it for you then you will not void it but you can't run a scam like that if that is what you are thinking of doing
