I'm using a r9 290 oc windforce from gigabyte, with the new bios my temp is under 70c, playing all demanding games on max setting @ 66c° for 2 hours of gaming.

Performance wise they both are good, I don't see any difference between the 290 and 290x. As for the Asus 290x and the gigabyte work pretty similar but asus is clocked at 1000mhz and
Gigabyte comes with 1040mhz out the box.

Pick either one they both very good cards.

They are all made in China just for you know, same factory make them and slap different brand name and specs on it. Anyway everyone have different opinion and their research...
