I just ordered this card, but have read some bad stories about the Double Dissipation cooler & XFX in general. I've read several stories that say that XFX have cheaped out after they ditched Nvidia for AMD, and that the DD cooler has a problem cooling the middle of the card. Does anyone know if any of this is true? I've had 2 XFX cards before (GeForce 8600 GT which I sold ages ago, and a GeForce 8800 GTS that I still have & works fine), and never had any issues with them whatsoever, but they were during their GeForce days...

Thoughts please! :D

The current AMD cards made by XFX are pretty bad. Cheap VRMs, sub par cooling.
Generally noisy with coil whine being common.

Pretty much. But its not ALL of them. It obviously depends on a few more things like models and batches ETC. But in general I shy away from XFX these days.

Well I won't be overclocking it and my case is pretty well ventilated (3 120MM fans, 1 80MM fan). You think I'll be ok?

You can change the fan profile.

Their high end cards like 7870-290X tend to have VRM heating issues

7850 might be okay. My tiny 6670 is made by XFX and has been flawless

Is the xfx 2GB 7850 a good card? I've checked the prices between this card and other 7850's and this one is one of the cheapest I could find, coming in around $200. It has good specs but I was just hoping for an opinion by someone who's owned one before or at least somebody who knows a good bit about xfx cards.

Owned a XFX card and by far it has met my expectations, plus with Lifetime warranty, you can never go wrong. A friend of mine owned a nvidia card by xfx back in 2008 (9800gt I think) and they were replaced lately with a 7770

Okay, Thanks! Now I just have to decide what power supply I'm going to get.

I have mine xfired with a msi core edition 7850. the XFX overclocked to 1050 mHZ core no problem and stays pretty cool. The one I have is the single fan blower style and it gets really loud at any fan speed over 50 to 60 percent. when I crossfire the two cards at load they don't really hit over 60 celsius and thats with them being overclocked and playing bf4 for hours
