Hello guys,
i had 2 old cpu's and i assembled 1 (with best configuration possible), everything is working fine but i am unable to access internet.
Motherboard ASUS p5gd2 tvm
Processor Pentium 4 HT 630
Ram 2.5 GB DDR2
Windows XP Service Pack 3
when i installed xp, under device manager i found a yellow ! mark so according to the manual of asus support site it has marvel yukon gigabit lan driver. So i downloaded the drivers but even after installation i am getting missing driver under ethernet controller in device manager. The LED's are working on the RJ45 panel at the back of the motherboard and windows is also recognising the hardware!!
i dont know whats worng and why i am not able to use the lan.
Also there is no lan or any connections visible in control panel under network connections.
i have tried a number of drivers other than specified but none is working.
Please help!

OOh! I get you now. What you do is get a usb stick that lets your computer connect to Wifi and install the drivers for that usb stick. Then connect to wifi to get internet. THEN try to update the LAN drivers. That should work.

What you try then is with the Driver folder from the Asus website which you downloaded, right click on the yellow question icon on the device manager, click on update driver software and browse for the downloaded folder and select it and see if it will update it.

I tried that earlier when i installed yukon driver and followed exactly what you are saying but no effect, it goes to thedialog box that asks to connect to the internet for driver search :(

i also tried resetting the CMOS setting and checked the BIOS onboard lan is enabled!
