So every now and then, I get this really strange noise coming from my computer. It occurs about once every 10 minutes, doesn't seem to affect the computers performance, but its a very strange noise that Id like to know about. The noise itself is a bit difficult to explain, its very metal-ey, kind of grindey but its not grinding at the same time. Almost sounds electrical, like there's no mechanical interference but a noise coming from the speakers. Its a very metallic beep is the best I could put it I guess, is it my harddrive in its final days, is it my GPU, is it the fans? Thanks

Uhh, I would recommend opening your computer and staring/listening to it for 10 minutes so you can better pinpoint the sound. Computer beep codes really only happen when you're turning your computer on and only if there is an error (a single short beep after turning your computer on means everything is okay, any other type of beeping means there is a problem)

It's possible there could me a stray cable that hits one of your fans then gets knocked aside until the minor vibrations bring it close again.

If you leave the case open, you can test the fans for noise - when you hear the noise, use a pencil eraser to force the fan to spin down (push slightly on the center of the fan) - if the noise goes away - it is the fan you tested. Often, removing the pencil from the fan will cause the sound to come back immediately.

Components are more difficult to determine, other than moving your ear closer to the components....
