New build for a friend and using new 4470k, Z87-C, used 8gb ripsaw mem, used 128gb ssd, used 1tb hdd , a used dvd-rw, and a nearly new 750w PSU (I tend to oversize here in case of future additions).

Finally got around to installing Win8.1 after the build has been sitting a few weeks following assembly. First time powering up and the SB led lights green, powers on with main button but no beeps or POST. I wanted to use the onboard graphics since this isn't going to be a gaming rig, mostly business, but I used the dvi mobo and got no signal. Tried an old vid card and no signal either.

Tried resetting CMOS, no change.

Pulled all memory and used one stick in slot A2 no change. Tried a stick of completely different memory and no change.

Tried unplugging all sata and no change.

Next step is to switch my 4770k and check the CPU.

Anyone have ideas?

Well, went though the checklist and at first by unplugging and plugging the 8-pin 12v back in I got it to POST and started installing Windows. That's the last time it showed life beyond the SB led. On hold to RMA back to ASUS. I will get back when I receive a new one or repair and tell you how it goes. Thanks and the checklist is a great tool.

Update- Asus rma'd the board after having me go through thier steps to test. Sent it in on my dime and found out that the board had a faulty chip. Only issue I had was when the rma disappeared from the system during repair. Spent some time with a tech on the phone and they assured me it was waiting for the part.

Recieved the board on thier dime for shipping and was pleasantly surprised to find that they just gave me a completely new board! Installed and my friend now has a fantastic setup! I should note that this is what the first time ever having any problems with Asus boards. My first X58 Sabertooth build now resides as a really great gaming rig for my nephew.

Thanks for the help. I will doing a Haswell I7 Sabertooth build for myself shortly and will let you know how tha goes.
