I recently bought a evga gtx 650 ti that turned out to be doa. I switched out my original gt 630. To install the gtx 650 ti in the first place I deleted all the existing drivers from my computer in order for it to work. Since then I had problems with my old gt630, for example I would boot it up and it would be fine except the screen would flicker on and off in an irregular pattern. That didn't matter to much because I wanted to use the inboard graphics until my new replacement arrived. So a little time has passed since then and my replacement card has been received. A Palit gtx 650OC.

During the wait for my card to be sent to me I have been making do with the onboard graphics (HD4000).

Now I have my Palit gtx 650Oc and have installed it correctly. The 6pin PCI-E cable has been connected.
When I power on my computer it shows the Acer screen and beeps like it usually does when powers on. Except the computer doesn't load any further than that and every 30 seconds the computer gives beeps. It gets to 3 additional then the computer screens turn black with the little flashing line in the top left. After this all hard drive activity stops. I can turn the computer off with just a short push of the power button. (Like a display error)
I cannot access the bios when the card is in. But I can when it's out. It still works fine without the gpu in the comp.

I have not installed the drivers because I can't if the computer can't boot. And it tells me it can't install the drivers when the card is out. (Compatible hardware not found error).

I really hope one of you knows what to do because it's the second time I've tried to install a new yup and I have failed.

BY the way my psu is good enough to support it. 650W OCZ psu

Take out the new GPU. If you can get to the BIOS, change the primary display driver from onboard integrated to dedicated GPU. Shut down the computer and install the GPU again. Power back on.

No mention of 30 second delay beeps. I tried installing the new drivers using the old gt630 and that didn't work. Any other thoughts on the matter

Make sure you don't have any USB devices plugged in, other than the keyboard and mouse (computer might be trying to boot from a flash drive). Check to make sure the SATA cable and power cables to the HDD are also plugged in (you may have accidentally removed it). Double check that your BIOS settings have the primary boot as your HDD.

I plugged my screen into the on board graphics port with the new gpu in it. The computer makes 1 long beep and then 2 short beeps.
Video rendering error. Does this mean my computer is incompatible with the GPU?

My computer is a stock Acer Aspire M3985 with an upgraded psu. From 400w to 650w.
