My laptop is Windows XP, it is extremely slow loading sites and won't shut down. It always messages to kill pages or wait. As far as shutting down, I usually have to manually do it. Please give me some tips. Could it be too old?It is 7 years old now. It also won't bring up some of the programs, ie Windows media player.

That thing is ancient by tech standards but it should still run okay

You probably have a ton of un-deleted/old registry items.

You could try a registry/cache cleaner like CCleaner or reinsert the win XP disk and hit repair (it will fill in the missing registry items for you) or worse comes to worse just reinstall the OS.

I still have an old IBM thinkpad T60 (released in 2006) and it runs well with XP/Linux (the only thin I have done to it is upgraded the HDD, the RAM, and re-pasted some thermal compound)

Download CCleaner:
Run cleaner to clear out Temp Internet files, system cache etc
Go to Registry Section, run scan and have it clear out registry keys that are no longer needed.
You can also go to tools and dissable any startup items that are not necessary.
(if the enteries are microsoft, intel, nvidia, ati, broadcom, atheros, then leave them enabled, also leave your printer enabled).

Download Auslogics Disk Defrag
Defrag your C drive as it is probably very fragmented
