Hi, I've been stress testing for one hour so far using Prime95 blend test, my highest temp so far has been 58c but most of the time all the cores are hovering around 50c, It's a i5 3570k cpu, asrock z77 extreme4 mobo, the case is the fractal design r2 midi and im using HWmonitor.
Also im using the hyper evo 212 and I think the room temp is around 18., well was lol. Are these temps alright?

OK. This is how it should have been applied: http://www.arcticsilver.com/intel_application_method.html#
But it sounds like it is fine. You don't want to use too much, though. If AS5 oozes out onto the MB or into the socket, it can cause short circuits because it is electrically conductive. It is good stuff, but it has that drawback. I switched to MX-4 just because of that.

Lol... it will alright for a lot longer than that. I try to change mine about once a year. But it doesn't need to be changed even that often. Heck, how often do most folks change the TIM in their gfx card? Most, probably never. And I'll bet the GPU gets a lot hotter than most CPUs.

True, thanks man just created a steam account, downloading planetside 2, play that for little and go to bed lol.

58c while stress testing isnt bad. not the lowest i've seen but not bad.

if you had a problem with the thermal paste you would have had much higher temperatures than that.

you dont need to change thermal paste every year. while true that thermal paste can dry out or lose effectiveness its going to take years of being applied to notice a change. i've used nothing but artic silver 5 for 10 years now and have never had an issue.

have fun with your new build.

I was hoping it would take me around 4hours, that was on sunday lol, my wiring is alright, got most of them hidden, I should have got a modular PSU though.
I actually found it easy to put on the heatsink, the motherboard io shield was a pain though lol.
The only things I had problems with was finding out where I put each wire, what delayed me a couple hours lol but the thing which delayed me for day and a half was actually the drivers and what ones to download for the mobo and where to download stress test and cpu temperature tools. I originally downloaded coretemp because I have heard good things,yeah.... it froze my computer, could move the mouse but that was it, had to hard reset, I then found out after doing a bit of research that there's currently a bug with windows 8 and 8.1 with it. So the when I was looking at stress test tools and other cpu temperature tools I did excessive research on them lol. I got prime95 and HWmonitor(they work flawlessly btw) and stress tested for a hour and now im here :D
