Access Denied when trying to initialize SSD in optical bay

Hi, I just installed an Intel 240GB SSD in my Lenovo Ideapad z710 which has Windows 8.1 installed on it. I tried to initialize the SSD in Disk Management (Disk 0) but I keep getting the error message 'Access Denied.' Even made sure that I am doing it through the local administrator account. Does anyone have any ideas about how to solve this problem? Thanks.
