I recently upgraded to AT&T U-Verse and I get pretty good internet, the modem however is crap. Just absolute garbage. The AT&T rep told me it was only designed to support one device at a time, but my house has more than 10 on at any given time. The internet keeps dropping. What sort of modem can i get to midigate this? My old netgear dual band ADSL2+ won't work.

You didn't say how you connected the Netgear to the 2wire or why it didn't work didn't work, so I am guessing the setup may not have been correct. Turn off the WiFi function of the 2 wire and use the Netgear as an access point by turning off its DHCP service. Connect them via an Ethernet cable plugged into the LAN port on each unit. That will eliminate the 2wire as a source for wireless "internet crashes."
That is strange ATT has been using modem/router combo devices for a while. ATT likes to call just about anything u-verse lately if you connection looks like dsl but does not work with you current dsl device it is likely vdsl. They also have fiber and coax type connections in some areas....most are dsl though.

If you really can only get 1 IP address you can pretty much put any router behind it that uses ethernet for wan. This should give you better wireless converage since many people complain about the wireless on the att router. Still if it is a router you can use your netgear as a AP to fix the wireless issue.

I am going to bet if you are getting drops when you are running wired the problem is in the DSL line. You should call and have them test the line again.

Say I am on computer (wireless) and someone else is on the xbox (wired) snd then someone else is watching netflix and then someone turns on an ipod, boom, mtoo much, internet crashes. However ot only crashes for the wireless, the xbox will still be connected whilst pc and everyhing else wireless won't. And I already tried using my netgear router, which is ADSL2+ if that helps. It didn't work. I also tried wiring my router into their router, which also didn't work. My U-Verse is fiber optic to the node as well.
