My i5 4670k isn't performing nearly as well as other 4670k's

I have tried countless different overclocks, settings, and optimizations and nothing seems to make a notable difference. I keep it clocked at just over 4.1 GHz and I can't seem to get it very much higher with 1.29 as the core voltage. What's really bad is that people with the same oc and motherboard get greatly higher performance (http://hwbot.org/xtu/analyze/2491481). The core temperatures are generally around 65 C when I stress test it and are all consistent. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is and if it's something I can fix and I would greatly appreciate help with this problem.

Gino,

Every CPU will vary in the limits of an OC. Also, it also depends on what motherboard you got also.

Motherboards play more of a limit on what they can allow. Some dont like voltages too high or speeds above a certain point.

If your using stock cooling, stop trying to OC.. You will burn up the CPU faster that way.

I'm using a corsair H60. I may try messing with the voltage more to see how much that may change my performance. Even though I have heard the "optimal" oc for a 4670k is 4.5 GHz I would assume that I'm never going to go above 4.2 GHz from what I can tell so far. My main concern is people using a very similar oc are getting vastly different performance and since some people are getting nearly two times higher marks in benchmarks I assume it's something significant. The only thing I could think of is not as affective ram or a hardware problem. Beyond that I'm clueless.

Its not really defective hardware, its just the limits of the motherboard and/or CPU.

Some OC really well and others dont. Seems like you got one of the ones that doesnt.

Also, your not going to see much of a difference in performance going from 4.2 to 4.5

All chips are not created equal. Some will inherently overclock better than others. It might be your board, but it's hard to tell exactly without tearing it all apart and swapping things out. I wouldn't worry too much about it. You won't see that great of a performance gain with .3 GHz anyway, you'd need a pretty high end GPU setup to cap your 4670K as it stands.
