Do APU motherboards give signal with no APU? Bad motherboard/APU?

Just received a new FM2+ (GIGABYTE GA-F2A75M-HD2 (rev. 3.0)) motherboard and AMD kaveri (A10-7700K) APU. I tried running it with everything plugged in (including new RAM) but even after removing everything it still won't seem to give a video signal. I'm wondering (because this particular board has no speaker) if an APU motherboard would give a video signal when the APU isn't plugged in? I also tried running it with my AMD Radeon R7 260X to no avail.

Oh that would be useful (thanks!), nope no idea since it won't boot - is there any way to update the bios without booting/having video? =o

I suppose if it does give video without the APU plugged in?

Or I suppose just plug in my 260x with no APU?

If the APU/CPU isn't recognized by the motherboard, then nothing is likely to display anything (either the APU or GPU).

Sometimes, there is a label on the motherboard box that will provide info regarding the motherboard, including the loaded BIOS version.
