Ok, I'm trying to build several Kaveri-based systems. I have 2 x A55BM-E and 1 x A88XM-A and the Amd A10-7700K. I can't get any combination of the 3 motherboards and 2 processors to POST. No video at all, no beeps on the MB speaker. I have even assembled them in a skeleton case for easy access to components. I'm figuring the odds of 3 bad motherboards and 2 bad CPUs is very small. I have been building PCs for many years, and never had problems like this.

I have tried every combination of CPUs, motherboards, and even 2 different memory modules. Tried no memory, 1 memory stick, and 2 memory sticks. Nothing.

Nothing through the VGA and nothing through the DVI.

I am I missing something obvious?

Please help....

you'll most likely need a richland apu or a tleast a athlon to at least fire it up and update the bios.

wait! you have a discrete gpu running? i'm pretty sure athlons require discrete gpus! if not just buy the cheapest apu you can find

i'll pop in a cheap gpu to run with the athlon for the firmware upgrade, then i'll swap both out for the a10-7700k.

fantastic just didn't want you to waste money on the athlon and not have a discrete gpu laying around :p

I'm having a similar issue, no video out of my Kaveri 7850. Using asus a88xm plus...

I was able to get to post/bios simply by installing a discrete video adapter, no need to get an entirely different APU....

Problem is that now even with the latest bios update I STILL have no video out of any of the ports on the motherboard. I can only get the computer to complete post with a discrete GPU installed. Wondering if bios support is incomplete, or if the APU's really could have defective graphics.....

I'm actually having a very similar issue. I purchased from tigerdirect a package with the Kaveri a10-7700k and asus a55bm-e motherboard. Unfortunately, I'm also not getting any video out. I've also tried a discrete pci card to get some video out but not luck. Asus's site states that I need a bios upgrade but unfortunately I'm not sure how I'm supposed to do that . And I don't have any other cpu thats compatible with the fm2 socket. Any ideas on how to procede ?

unless you get asus to sell you a pre-flashed updated bios, you have to do as described above-get a supported cpu, flash the bios, then install the kaveri. i ended up doing that, but still had problems with the asus a55bm-e motherboard and a10-7700k. it won't work if you have 2 sticks of memory installed-even with the updated bios. i had to return it to tiger direct and get a motherboard that supports the 10-7700k out of the box.

Let us know how the new motherboard works out. I looks like I have to return the mb too.

Hi, Is there a list of motherboards people have found to work in A10-7700k (Kaveri) out of the box without requiring a second chip to reflash?

I guess MSI A88XM-E45 is one so far. Are there others?

It seems wrong for the MB manufacturers to burden us with having to pull out an old CPU to reflash. They should change the model numbers to make this easier. By the way, I actually asked ASUS if I'd be able to flash BIOS on an A88X-PLUS while my incompatible A10-7700k is installed, and they said yes. That's obviously incorrect after reading this thread.

Thank you.

There are some motherboards that can be flashed even without a compatible cpu installed, but mine( asus a55bm-e) definately wasn't . In some cases, installing a video card would boot the unit and then you can proceed to upgrade the bios that way.

I want to share my experience with Asus A88XMA with A10 7850k. I have struggled with the technical service for 6 months. my apu got replaced, my rams got refund, however neither of my problems solved which are: No video signal with dvi and hdmi, and second was dual channel ram configuration was resulting in windows crashes.

My configuration was A10 7850k, Asus axxma and kingston 2*4gb 2133mhz hyperx beast series. At last, technical service burnt my mobo and decided to refund it. Simultaneously, i got an older mobo (asus a68hm-k https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/A68HMK/overview/ ) and everyting worked perfectly. Although asus states that a88xma is compatible with fm2+ socket, i saw many threads with same problems. Most of them got RMA and i became on of them :)

You don't have to boot into Windows to update bios. Just update bios in bios -- unless you can't boot into bios which is a bigger problem. Go to asus and find the lates bios version for your build and put it onto a USB stick then in BIOS find the ez update and locate that USB memory stick as the source of your update.

However, I have had nothing but trouble getting the asus a55bm-e to work right even with the latest update -- what I get for buying the cheapest motherboard. Anyway, one thing I learned was only run 1 memory stick until you get everything up and running then try 2 -- I never could get my asus board to work correctly with 2 ram in (both) dimm slots. Now I'm running with just one memory stick while saving up to buy a fully functioning board.

Same motherboard with 7600 Apu and different problems. Onboard ethernet card stoped working just after I installed the drivers and restarted the pc ( basically it never worked). I updated the bios to the last version and now I cant alocate video memory in Bios. The option is not present anymore and I'm stuck with only 1 Gb video memory.
