Input lag and performance issues? No. A keyboard is a keyboard far as that goes. Overall feel? HUGE difference. I don't game, but I do a lot of typing. I went from a Logitech MK520 keyboard to a DAS Cherry MX Blue. I can't type on another keyboard without the keys feeling mushy.

Some people also argue there is a performance side of things. For instance, I find mechanical keyboards to register a keystroke faster then a membrane one. They are also usually easier to type on.

But they are super noisy.
