First Time Build Troubles

Hello,

This is my first ever build, and I'm having trouble with the final assembly. I have everything connected as well as I can tell and all of fans boot up, lights turn on. When I connect the DVI-D to HDMI cable that came with the monitor, I get no signal. My case didn't come with a motherboard speaker, so I can't tell if it is even getting past POST stuff (nothing in there to beep). I attempted to use the VGA-DVI converter, thinking that maybe it defaulted to analog before it had drivers installed, to no avail. I'm wondering if there is something I might be missing, if something isn't compatible, or if something is not functioning properly.
