Ok, so my problem is that my gf has an external hard drive hd elements 1tb which she had connected to a laptop, when the laptop ran out of battery she unplugged the disk and charged it. When she turned on the laptop, she also attached HD but now it isn't recognized anymore, i shows up the letter (H:) but the problem is when you click on the HD, PC starts lagging and almost freezes totally. Basicaly you can't access the files anymore.

These are the things i've tried to solve the issue, but had 0 success:

Safely remove the HD

uninstall it via device manager

try to repair it by right clicking on it and choosing repair option

try to scan it and repair it via cmd - when not in safe mode - the cmd gave 0 results.
when i tried it in safe mode it told me that is was unable to do something...

The diskmgmt.msc command opens up the window, but it is completely stuck at "connecting to virtual disk services", it won't go any further.

I can't change the letter of the drive because when i right click on it file manager totally freezes.

Tried to recover files via testdisk till now it shows only error reading sectors...

please help :)

PS: i've also plugged the disk into another pc... same problems and jus for the info, the disk isn't dead, it has the light blinking.

Try using a different cable, maybe with a power adapter attached to the drive if there is a spot for it or using a double headed USB cable for extra power.

You can also try to remove the drive from the enclosure and either plug it in directly into a system as a secondary drive or use a different enclosure.

Thank you for your reply,

Checked out the cable, not helping anything... I really want to try something else before taking it out of it's frame... I also noticed that it's working with 100% in task manager, but the speed jumps to 100kb/s to 0 and that's happening in interval every second, so i'm really confused right now.
