i am using a lenovo g560 and bought it in 2010.
i have been using my laptop in bed lately (vents not properly exposed) .reading a few posts i realized it was wrong, perhaps too late and i have started facing overheating problem.i got it cleaned with a blower and use my laptop on table now.But still the problem persists. The fan keeps on running constantly.it switches off for a min or so and then starts again.what should i do?

Solution

Check the Processor Power Management settings under Control Panel - System and Security - Power Options - Change Plan Settings - Change Advanced Power Settings - Processor Power Management. Set Minimum Processor State to 5% / Maximum Processor State to 100% for both battery and plugged in. If the minimum is set to 100% your processor is running at full speed and getting hot even when you are doing nothing.
