Steam Machine Competitor

I saw an IGN article if their build of a computer to verse the new Steam ones. I built a rough list of the parts.

Had to change the case because the optical drive wouldn't work with the case I was trying. Couldn't find the same case either.

Opinions? Thoughts about how it would handle gaming?

Solution
It's fine enough for gaming, but there are quite a few things that you could perhaps look at changing.

3350P in a Z77 motherboard doesn't make a lot of sense, as Z77's main selling point is the overclocking potential. At $126 it's not a bad price, but you can definitely save money here if you want to get the price down. How much you can save depends on if you need built in Wifi really.

A 256Gb SSD and a 2TB HDD are both pretty huge for an exclusively gaming machine. Is that the sort of storage you actually need? The secondary drive is a slower drive, so you can't really run stuff from it terribly well either.

PSU is pretty average. Given your total budget, it doesn't make much sense to cut back here. If you want a quality modular PSU...

PSU is pretty average. Given your total budget, it doesn't make much sense to cut back here. If you want a quality modular PSU in that range, consider the Antec HCG-620M, Seasonic M12-II 620, Seasonic SSR-550 etc.

The Prodigy case is big. If you intend to use that space for a large number of HDDs, or a water cooling system, then it makes a lot more sense. Otherwise, you might be better off with something more compact like a CM Elite 130. There's a lot of options though, depending on how flexible you are on the optical drive (and whether it can be a slim drive).
