Hey guys,
I bought my computer parts and most of them have made it through the mail. The motherboard and the CD drive for example. The motherboard came with two SATA cables...but The dvd drive came with nothing. I am not sure how I find out if it is a SATA or IDE interface. This is my first computer build so I am quite new with everything. Also, is their any tutorials on how to hook the motherboard and DVD drive together? I'm sorry these are silly questions, but I just want to make sure I do everything right. Also, I was planning on purchasing some USB 3.0 bays for the desktop, do those also connect using SATA cables or do they actually connect using USB? Because my motherboard has 4 internal USB ports and I have no idea why I would need them internally unless it is to hook more parts up. The computer also has six SATA ports. (2 of each kind like SATA 1, 2, and 3). Not sure if that helps any but any help you can provide me will be nice.

If you have a SATA DVD drive, it connected to any of the SATA ports. For the record, your do not have SATAI, SATAII, and SATAIII ports on your motherboard. More likely, they're just labeled that way and are actually a combination of SATAII and SATAIII or just all SATAIII.

Your internal USB port are for connecting components at the front of the case. Items like a SD Card reader, and Front USB ports.
