For me i5 2500K/ i7 2600K have enough power and 2GB should be fine.
 


What does cpu power and system ram have to do with 2gb model vs 4gb.

If the cpu and the ram are fast , it will make no difference from where the data are fetched - through the pci-e slot or the internal VRAM . Btw , the cpu and the gpu are interacting every moment.

What does that have anything to do with what you were talking about? Your point was that VRAM is dependent on your CPU and RAM specs. The only thing changing in that test was the resolution, which I am very well aware that high resolutions require more than 2gb.
