I have suddenly had problems with my ram. I got a brand new motherboard gigabyte 990fx
i have ripjaw 2x4gb ram. 1833mhz. when i turn my computer on and its idle my ram percentage is very high which it never use to do. also when i go onto my system properties it says RAM:8gb total (3.98gb usable) and im wondering if this is the problem. as its only using half the amount of ram i have. and thats why the speeds are so slow. expecially when gaming. if i have one game open like "rift" an mmo its running at 80-90% which is not normal even on my old motherboard which was way worse. also my graphics card is nividea 7870 tahiti adition. and proccesser is fx4300 3.8ghz

By any chance are you using a 32-bit Operating System? Because, if you are, 32-bit OS can address only 4 GBs of RAM regardless of how much more is installed. Your board can handle a total of 32 GBs of RAM.- DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 (32 GBs for 64-bit OS)

With your board and 64-bit OS you should have the capability of a total of 32 GBs od RAM.

You say that you have 2x4 GBs of RAM, and I assume that these two modules are a matched set.

Start by testing the modules one module at a time in slot #1 (check and verify from the motherboard manual which is slot 1). This will explain how to do the test: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

There is also another memory test: http://www.memtest.org/

I will do these suggestions and let you know what will I find wrong. ? And they are a matching set and are both in matching colours in the motherboard and probably inserted.

Good to know! Let's hope that both modules test good! One module at a time.

I have done the test on both ram sticks individually and in different slots and it says there are no errors. And when I go system properties it just says 4gb nothing in brackets and when I then put them both back it goes back to 8gb (3.98gb) usable ? Any ideas I have also tested them
With them both in and it comes up with no errors.

That's encouraging!
