Now it appears as local disk G, but when I click on it, it tells me to format it; when i click on that one, it "formats" it for hours while showing pictures of saved on my C drive!!! something I never set it to do! SO: what happened to my seagate? and by clicking on "format" - did i accidentally remove something off the C drive?? how come it is asking to format, when it never did before nor when I bought it??? HEEEELP please!!! many thanks!!!!!
Press start in the search window type cmd. Then right click cmd and click run as admin. In the window that appears type g:\ chkdsk. What does it say?

It asked me where to search: found nothing, then I did advance search and whole load of names came up:
PATCH_CMD.LOG; PostPININST.CMD; OFFT.CMD; Norton.cmd; LS.CMD; ImgInhc2.cmd; precmdline.cmd; cmdline.cmd; UpModel.cmd; HPRM-BCDfix.cmd; ImgInh.cmd;
I kept all low case and capitals as i saw them; if I clicked on any, black screen came up - I could have typed something into it as there was a curser, but am not profficient enough and was afraid in case i screw up the mainframe/drive C;
I wish I could copy the whole screen onto here for you to see, but again i do not know how to do it, so sorrrrry!
I did discover however that my local drive G is RAW !!! - I just do not know now how to move on from there!
I shows it is working properly and there is nothing on it, as i wiped it clean wanting to reado all my stuff from scrach from my laptop.
I also must add, while all this was going on my ramainging space on drive C gonde down from 77GB to 73.7GB - but how/why??? it beats me. I was at it till 2 am last night - I live in UK.
I clean up with Piriform (registry as well) and wipe out history after each session - not because it is naughty, but because I do not have a lot of memory: it is HP with Vista, from 2007 - mathusalem when it comes to computers, but it is enough for me. I am very grateful for your help, I do hope I can get my Seagate back and working? I have Kaspersky, Internet security 12.0.0.374
I actually took off everything because the names under folders did not show up, when it always does on my computer. I also added lot more info to pictures and documents so thought just the whole thing. Then this happened.
So sorry for long delay, tried to enter the website and would not let me in for at leasst 20 minutes??
