If you're going to be mainly gaming on this you should spend less on the Proc and more on the GPU. The i3 is a good chip for gaming paired with a powerful GPU, or you could go to a non-overclockable i5. If gaming is the main purpose here it should be the most expensive part.

My suggestion: ASUS M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard, AMD FX 6300, keep the 212 Evo, Keep the ram, i don't know about the case (better ones for about the same price) and get a R9 270x

see i started inching towards intel bc i had a near same config as you just said but the fx benchmarks and the single core speed wasn't that high which disappointed me quite a bit. for example a game i would play :
Rust, BF4, Other FPS at high or maybe even ultra .cores count but I very much also rely on single core speed.

Maybe because you had a poor graphics card?

Rely on it for what? Games are only getting more multithreaded. As was already said, the GPU is most important and you want the best you can get. 6300 + 270x would be great and perform better than i3 + 650ti

Exactly, an FX 6300 has i5 performance with 2 extra cores and cheaper price
