Graphics card crashes after monitor goes to sleep

So I just upgraded to a Sapphire 7870 OC edition from an old Nvidia GTS 250. Now whenever I leave my computer alone for like 10 minutes, my monitor goes to sleep to save power. When I move my mouse to awake it, sometimes it just shows me a black screen and other times everything on my screen is pixelated/super messed up. There were no problems until I installed the new GPU.

I have a Corsair CX750 psu if that matters. I completely deleted my old nvidia drivers and installed the amd ones. My monitor is connected with a VGA.

I'm not sure if this is even a problem on my end, could the card be faulty?

My Windows 7 is fully updated, the gpu drivers are fully updated. I just updated my BIOS to the latest version. Its still happening, after like 10 minutes the screen fades out like normal and then I get a "No Signal" on the monitor. When I move my mouse to awake it the screen is all pixelated and artefacted if that makes any sense.
