I've tried to download files onto my Micro SD card but it wont let me do it, when it failed to do this I tried to delete some of the contents to see if it was cause it was nearly full, but all it does when I delete a file is it shows it gone, until I go off it and back on, then it is all still there. I then checked online and it said to try formatting it... when I tried this it just says 'Windows was unable to complete the format' .... I have also tried it in other devices but I am still having the same problems, and ideas as I have ran out of ideas on what to do?

Sounds like you have a card reader, not a card reader/writer. A card reader cannot write to the card, it cannot delete files from the card, and it cannot format the card.

Most computers that come with a built-in card reader has just that, something that only reads the cards. I had to go out and purchase a reader/writer from IOGear to be able to handle just that.

I am having the exact same problem. WinXP/Vista/linux/desktop/laptop - nothing can format 2 of my sandisk 32gb cards. They can be read. Won't even format in the camera. If I delete they show deleted but the operation never really happens.
chkdsk /f /r always fails to fix and/or repair. Never gets anywhere. And no I don't have "card readers".

I'm having the same problem. If I format it using card reader, "windows was unable to complete format" is displayed. If i try to format it with my data cable in my phone, windows is able to format but as soon as you disconnect from the computer, all the content gets restored. I am sure the card reader is not only reader as it works perfectly fine with other SD Card and there is no Lock on the SD card. It does not seems to be any hardware problem as well.

I am having the same problem. I thought it was my phone and when I upgraded my phone I was having the same problem. I have tried to format the SD card in both the phone and my PC but after finally being able to format the SD card and put back into the phone all the files show back up. I can copy files from the SD card to internal memory or to the PC but I can't write to the SD card or delete from it. Photos will no longer save to it so had to change settings on the camera for the phone. I then tried a SD card from a friends phone and had no problems which narrowed it down to the SD card so I just ordered another card. Must be a bad card.

I finally ended up having this issue on a Team Group 64GB microSD card. I could delete files, and they would show deleted until the card was reinserted and those files were back. No delete or write operations could actually occur.

Same issue when formatting with Windows, it cannot complete the format.

It was as if the card had been rendered "read-only" somehow.

I contacted Team Group, got an RMA#, and sent the card back to them and received a replacement on warranty. They were very prompt and fully admitted this was a failure of the controller on the SD card.

After one more week of use on the replacement card, it happened again. I contacted Team Group, got another RMA, and sent this one back. This time they asked for a lot more information, such as how I was using the card, what equipment/electronics it was being used with, etc. They contacted me back after another week of having the SD card back, and stated the issue was with a faulty design in the controller which made it incompatible with certain products, one of which being the particular model of cell phone I was using it in. This time they replaced it with an "upgraded" product that had a proper controller. Been using it for over a month now with no issues. The first 2 both failed in the first week. Hats off to Team Group for actually following through and taking the time to research what was going on on their end to get the problem fixed properly.

More than likely, each of you are having a similar issue. Team Group actually switched me to an SD card manufactured by SanDisk to get around the problem, because apparently their lower end class cards just weren't up to par.

Hope the problems I finally encountered, and the pains I took in getting it resolved, will help someone else.

open the phone then remove battery, (without switching off the phone) after you removed battery remove sd card also, and wait for 10seconds and put in sd card again, put battery too and switch on your phone, after this u can delete everything u couldn't. Hope it works for you too.
